Best Tacos In San Diego: Don Bravo

In the hunt for San Diego’s best tacos we came across a gem in beautiful La Jolla. In the part of town they call “Bird Rock” between La Jolla Village and Pacific Beach, you will find this amazing little beachside restaurant. While you can find Mexican food anywhere this close to the border, there are certain things that set a place like Don Bravo apart. So what makes Don Bravos one of the best taco spots in San Diego???

The Setting

Unlike many of the other authentic taco spots in San Diego, Don Bravo features a back patio in one of the nicest neighborhoods in the area. That means while you’re enjoying your taco, you can take in the fresh breeze and catch a glimpse of the beautiful pacific ocean!

The Portions

To compete as one of the best taco spots in San Diego, you have to have the good deals! Not only does Don Bravo have $2 tacos all day every day and even cheaper street tacos during happy hour, but the portions are incredibly generous! Where other places may garnish their tacos with all the fixings, the quality of the seafood at the Don’s is second to none. We were pleasantly surprised with the big helpings of battered fish, even compared to legendary restaurants like Oscar’s Mexican Seafood. You can’t beat that!

Packed with delicious fish!

Authentic Cuisine

This is where Don Bravos “Quality Mexican Cuisine” really lives up to its name! With so many great options in Southern California, the only way to really differentiate between taco shacks is looking at the rest of the menu. Don Bravo features some of the best carne in town if you’re looking for a California burrito, and the authentic Mexican plates with beans are to die for. However, if you’re really looking for that good stuff, make sure to try the rolled tacos with shredded beef or chicken!

The rolled tacos are oozing with flavor!

It’s clear to see what separates Don Bravo Grill from the typical tourist taco spots in San Diego. So get there and enjoy it next time you’re in Bird Rock!
