The Paid Bridesmaid Book Review

Title: The Paid Bridesmaid
Author: Sariah Wilson

Where in the World am I Reading?

My name is Brigitte. Full-time adventurer and part-time book addict. I’m currently in Phuket Thailand! After working all day The Paid Bridesmaid by Sariah Wilson was the perfect read to take to the beach and unwind with.

As I drank my coconut on the beach the pages transported me to tropical Hawaii. Being in Phuket already, this was not hard to imagine at all! Honestly, when I looked out over the ocean I felt like I was back in Maui.

Jake and I actually visited Maui just 5 months ago. It was our first time on the island so I loved reading a book set in Hawaii after having gone there so recently.

Crazy Life of The Paid Bridesmaid

I knew I was going to love this book before I even started it! My mom is a wedding planner and growing up I learned a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff with weddings. At one point I even thought I might be a wedding planner myself.

Anyway, let’s cut to The Paid Bridesmaid by Sariah Wilson! Well, there won’t be any spoilers from the title “The Paid Bridesmaid” as Rachel is literally paid to be a bridesmaid. She has made an entire career out of it and her business is thriving.

Is this a real thing? I mean I definitely could have seen myself staying in the wedding industry with this role! The book is set around a week-long wedding in Hawaii for influencer Sadie.

While the events and entire wedding are crazy Sadie is actually not at all what I expected her to be like. She is fun, driven, and completely in love with her husband-to-be.

Rachel is a great character and the word great is an understatement. She owns her own business, is driven, and enjoys what she does. Rachel has had some bumps in the road to get her to where she is but she is strong and determined to be successful.

Spy Hunter Camden Lewis

Enter Camden. Rachel is the Maid of Honor and her job is to ensure that the entire weekend goes smoothly. However, Camden is the best man and beyond suspicious of Rachel. I don’t see how anyone could dislike Camden. He’s persistent but not at all pushy. He’s also charming and generally cares for his best friend and all the people in his life.

In a mix of interrogation and general interest, Camden quickly becomes intrigued with Rachel. He even convinces himself that she is a corporate spy who is there to steal information on his company.

Their dynamic is light-hearted and fun with Rachel avoiding basically all his questions and Camden growing ever skeptical. Literally, she has signed an NDA and has a massive rule about not mixing with any of the guests (in a romantic way). While she uses all her willpower to keep their relationship professional, they still have a ton of fun and obviously a great connection.

An Over the Top Wedding

While the story follows along through the wedding week there are more than a few funny moments. The entire basis of the book is ridiculous to start. As an “influencer wedding” (huh?) the entire event is being broadcasted to millions of followers. From sponsored bachelorette parties to glamping, and even a staged pillow flight. Almost every moment is staged for the perfect wedding!

The only small thing that I didn’t love was the idea that Rachel was okay with being at a wedding live-streamed to millions of Sadie’s followers? Her entire business is based on anonymity. I didn’t get hung up on this it just felt like her character was a better business women than that.

Would I Recommend The Paid Bridesmaid?

The Paid Bridesmaid is ridiculous and hilarious in the best way possible. This is the type of book you want to read on the beach or at the pool, preferably with a large ice-cold cocktail. It was fun and I let my busy mind completely give in to the pages.

Rachel and Camden have an instant spark and their chemistry and unique situation that brought them together lead the storyline. I would totally recommend The Paid Bridesmaid to anyone who enjoys a fun and stress-free book.

This is the first book I’ve read by Sariah Wilson but am excited for more! If you have any recommendations let me know in the comments.
