Planning a trip to Scotland? It’s easy to see why this has become such a popular destination in Europe! Here’s where you can find our best Scotland travel tips, road trip guides, and much more.
Our first Scotland trip was in 2023. We actually spent one month living and remote working from the small town of Stonehaven. This was such a beautiful and calm place to reset before heading out to see more of the country! We took daily walks along the boardwalk, enjoyed some local eats, and made many walks to the famous Dunnottar Castle.
After a relaxing month, we picked up a rental car and ventured to the Scottish Highlands. Our 10 Day road trip took us to some of Scotland’s greatest castles, nature hikes, and to the incredible Isle of Skye. We ended in the capital of Edinburgh to experience the city’s best food and historical sites.
Check out all our Scotland travel guides below for tips, and to hear all about our experiences. We’re already planning another Scotland trip soon, so stay tuned!
Money: The pound used as currency in Scotland, and throughout the United Kingdom.
Location: Scotland is located in Northern Europe. It’s part of Great Britain and borders England to the south.
Language: English is the language predominantly spoken in Scotland. However, you may hear some locals speaking Scots or Scottish Gaelic.
Seasons: Due to the harsh winters in the United Kingdom, many tourists flock here during the warmer summer months. Our favorite time to visit is in the shoulder season of late spring and early fall. This is the part of the year where you’ll find less crowds, but still pleasant enough weather.
What to Eat & Drink: Scotland’s cuisine really surprised us! We found a wide range of fresh fish, meat dishes, and bakery treats to enjoy. Be sure to try a full Scottish breakfast on your visit, and make a visit to Oban if you’re a seafood lover.
