Planning a trip to Turkey? This is where you can find the best Turkey travel tips, vacation guides, and read all about our own adventures.
Turkey had been on our radar for awhile, and we finally made our first visit in the summer of 2022. We’d just spent a magical few weeks in Greece and were finishing our trip on the island of Kos.
From there, we took the short ferry to the city of Bodrum, Turkey! This would kick off the start of our tour on the incredible Turquoise Coast. We did it all by local bus, which was quite the experience.
Over the next two weeks, our travels would take us along the Turkish Riviera to destinations like Fethiye, Kas, and Oludeniz Beach. We even took an amazing boat trip to the Sunken Island of Kekova!
Ever since this Turkey trip, we’ve yearned to see more of this special country. The following summer we would return to explore Ephesus ruins as part of a Celestyal Cruise. Check out all our Turkey guides below, and stay tuned for more exciting stories from around the world.
Money: Turkish Lira is the currency used throughout the country.
Location: Turkey is unique as it’s technically part of both Southeastern Europe and Asia. It borders Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, and Syria.
Language: Turkish is the official language.
Seasons: Turkey is home to a lovely Mediterranean climate, with pleasant temperatures year-round in most places. Many travelers visit during the warmer summer months for the beaches and historic sites.
However, our favorite time to go is just outside of July and August in the shoulder season. During these months, you’ll find fewer crowds, but still great weather.
What to Eat & Drink: Turkish cuisine is known as one of the best in the world, and for good reason! Enjoy a wide variety of local dishes that blend meats, spices, and veggies perfectly. Also, make sure to try a traditional breakfast on your Turkey vacation.
