Planning a trip to the island of Rhodes Greece? This is the page for Rhodes travel tips, island guides, and all about our own experiences.
Greece is one of our favorite countries in Europe, and we’ve now been to over 20 different islands. Yet, from the moment we stepped foot on Rhodes, we could tell it was completely unique from anywhere else.
Our first visit to Rhodes was in 2021. We were coming off a wonderful spring in Massachusetts, and were so ready to hit the Greek Islands! Our flight path took us from New York City to Athens, before continuing onto Rhodes International Airport.
For this trip, we worked directly with the Rhodes Tourism Board who coordinated our itinerary. This partnership was such a success, we were featured in the Greek news!
After spending a couple of days exploring the medieval old town, we were off on an adventure. Renting a car gave us the freedom to explore the entire island of Rhodes, and hit so many beautiful beaches and mountain villages.
One of our favorite places we visited was the ancient town of Lindos. We climbed up to the Acropolis, swam at St. Paul’s beach, and ate our hearts out at the local tavernas.
Our travels took us everywhere from Kallithea Springs to wine tasting in Embonas, and a glorious sunset at Monolithos Castle. We even continued onto the islands of Symi and Halki using the ferry system.
Since then, we’ve been back to Rhodes multiple times. Whether it’s on a two day layover with Aegean Airlines or a stop with Celestyal Cruises, we always have so much fun!
Check all our Rhodes guides for the best things to do, and real stories from own excursions. It won’t be long until we’re back on this awesome Greek island, so stay tuned!
Money: The Euro is used on Rhodes and throughout Greece.
Location: Rhodes is located in southeastern Greece in the Aegean Sea. It’s part of the Dodecanese island group and easily reached by flight or ferry.
Language: Greek is the official language of the country.
Seasons: The most popular time to visit is during the warm summer months. This is when you can take advantage of the stunning beaches and outdoor activities.
Nevertheless, one of our best Rhodes travel tips is to see the island during shoulder season. By traveling just outside of the peak tourist months of July and August, you’ll still find fantastic weather and less crowds.
What to Eat & Drink: The food on Rhodes is so delicious! You’ll find all the Greek classics at the local tavernas, plus a variety of tasty seafood and bakery treats. We’ve stumbled upon some of our favorite meals in Greece just by wandering streets of Rhodes Old Town.
