We’ve now been to Italy several times together, and it’s easily one of our favorite countries in Europe! We immediately fell in love with the food, history, and small local villages.
Our first Italy trip was in 2016 when we made a quick stop in Florence. We then went back in 2018 and spent 10 days traveling through the Northern region by train. This included stops in Milan, Venice, Bergamo, Verona, and Bologna.
On our most recent trip, we spent two days in Rome and took an amazing food tour of the Prati neighborhood. After that, we spent one month in Tuscany working and living from the hilltop town of Montepulciano.
Many travelers will start their journey by flying into the big cities of Rome or Milan. From there, you can rent a car or utilize the efficient train system to get around.
