How to Get to Playa Burriana
Most travelers that go to Nerja stay in the town center and not Burriana Beach. Luckily, it’s just a short 15-20 minute walk from the famous Balcon de Europa.
Oh, and we should probably mention the walk is absolutely gorgeous! There are a couple of different ways to get to Playa Burriana which we will explain below.
Stroll Through Nerja Town
The first way to get to Burriana Beach Nerja is to cut directly through town. This way you will pass many local eateries and bars, but you may miss some of the coastline. Eventually, you will come to a winding ramp that leads down to the Playa de Burriana. The view from the top is magical!
Burriana Beach Walk
Another way to get to Burriana is to cut directly down to the beach from the cliffside. About halfway through the walk along the coast, there is a steep staircase. Taking this down will get you to the far end of Playa Burriana and you can walk on the sand to the main part of the beach.
Best Things to do at Burriana Beach Nerja
There are so many fun things to do at Burriana Beach! Unlike other Nerja beaches which are just small coves, Burriana is set up with an abundance of restaurants and activities to enjoy.
Trust us… We love the peace and quiet of the secluded Nerja Beaches. However, it’s always fun to walk to Playa de Burriana on the weekends and get in the mix. Here are some of our favorite things to do at Burriana Beach!
Kayak or Paddleboard
Kayaking is an amazing way to get out on the water in Nerja. Believe it or not, there are even caves to explore just around the corner from Burriana Beach!
You can rent kayaks at Educare Aventura on the beach, and they even offer group tours. Also, stand-up paddle boarding is super fun from here on a calm day.
Drinks on the Boardwalk
Burriana’s boardwalk is lined with amazing restaurants, cafes, and bars to enjoy on your visit. Specializing in seafood, it’s common to see these establishments packed all day at Playa de Burriana especially in the summer months.
Walk Burriana Beach in Nerja
Who doesn’t love a stroll on the beach? With many of Nerja’s beaches being small and wedged into the cliffs, Burriana gives you more room to spread out and get some exercise.
The long stretch of sand is flat and perfect for a light stroll or running. But hey, there’s also nothing wrong with laying out and having a lazy beach day either!
Swimming at Playa Burriana
The waters of Burriana Beach are gorgeous and perfect for swimming. On a calm day, you’ll be able to see right through the crystal clear ocean.
For this reason, Playa Burriana is one of our favorite places to swim in Nerja. Want to know the best part though? With Andalusia’s warm temperates you can swim at Playa Burriana year round!
Burriana Beach Daily Paella Feast
There is one last thing we need to tell you about Playa de Burriana… And it’s one of the main reasons we go so often! Every day at Ayo restaurant there is a special offer available. For just 8 Euros per person, they serve up a massive Paella feast that draws hundreds of visitors on the weekends.
It’s amazing to see how they cook the rice with chicken, shrimp, and clams all together. Once you get your first taste of Paella you’ll see why we come almost every Sunday we’re in Nerja!
And don’t worry, the waiters rush around and make sure you’ll never have an empty plate. After you have eaten all you can, head back to Burriana Beach for a dip in the ocean. You’ve earned it!
