About the Brooklyn Bridge
First off, we should tell you a little bit about this famous bridge in New York City. Construction first started in 1869 and finished 14 years later. At the time, it was actually the longest suspension bridge in the world!
The 6,000 foot long bridge connects the popular boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn across the East River. That means there is plenty of amazing places to get a view of the Brooklyn Bridge on both sides.
Standing beside it is the Manhattan Bridge which was completed afterward in the early 20th century. Make sure to also check out our blog on how to get the best picture of the Manhattan Bridge!
These days, over 150,000 vehicles and pedestrians cross the bridge every day. You can walk, bike, or drive over this historic landmark.
Where’s Best Brooklyn Bridge View?
That’s a hard question to answer because this massive structure can be seen from so many areas of the city. However, we’ve narrowed it down to a few of our favorite spots we’ve found while exploring New York.
The locations in our post not only are the best views of the Brooklyn Bridge, but fun spots that you will want to visit anyway. If you have a great spot that we don’t mention let us know in the comments! We will make sure to go there next time we’re in NYC.
5 Amazing Brooklyn Bridge Views
1. Brooklyn Bridge Park
One of the best places to visit on the Brooklyn side of the bridge is actually Brooklyn Bridge Park! It stretches from the Columbia Heights district all the way to Dumbo and the Manhattan Bridge. This is definitely one of the best Brooklyn Bridge views, and you’ll also get incredible angles of the lower Manhattan skyline.
We love walking along the water on a nice sunny day and strolling by the different piers. You’ll find other outdoor activities here such as basketball, soccer, and multiple playgrounds. After you get a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge be sure to walk above the park on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade.
Directly across from the park is 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, which you can imagine from its name has some amazing views of the city. This popular hotel even has an outdoor swimming pool to enjoy in the summer!
Here you’ll find Harriet’s Rooftop & Lounge which is a fun rooftop bar and another unique view of the Brooklyn Bridge. Just know you’ll want to make a reservation beforehand to guarantee yourself a spot!
2. Pebble Beach
Another great Brooklyn Bridge view is actually at the beach! While no one will be in a rush to jump into the East River for a swim, Pebble Beach does offer a stunning vantage point to the famous bridge and city skyline. The small beach is located inside Main Street Park which is just north of Brooklyn Bridge Park.
While standing on Pebble Beach you will have the Manhattan Bridge directly to your right, and a stellar view of the Brooklyn Bridge to the left. Since this puts you close to the Manhattan Bridge entrance you can take a walk across it afterward.
Also, just a few steps away from Pebble Beach is the awesome Timeout Market. One of our favorite things to do in the DUMBO neighborhood is to grab a bite to eat at this fun indoor market.
You can also go up to the rooftop bar on top which is the perfect place to get another Brooklyn Bridge view! Check out our article below for more awesome things to do in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn.

3. On the East River Ferry
How about a view of the Brooklyn Bridge from the water? Many people resort to Uber, taxis, and the subway to get around New York City. Yet, the best way for us is on the ferries! Specifically in the summertime, the ferry is an excellent alternative to the usual modes of city transportation.
It also just happens to be one of the best Brooklyn Bridge views! Hop on the ferry from Dumbo to Pier 11/Wall St, or you can do it in reverse. This is a quick and exciting way to cut across to the Manhattan side.
Try and be first on to the boat and head straight up to the outdoor deck. Then get your camera ready because you’re going right next the famous bridge! This is such a unique experience compared to the other Brooklyn Bridge views.
The ferry operates like the NYC subway and is used for commuting around the city. It’s a great way to include seeing the bridge on your way to other great attractions.
If you’re looking for a completely free way to see the Statue of Liberty and more views of the skyline consider taking the Staten Island Ferry. Here’s our guide to this fun and FREE boat ride!
4. Pier 17 Manhattan
It’s time to cross the East River now for another epic Brooklyn Bridge view! We mentioned the Timeout Market earlier, but just know this city is filled with more amazing rooftop bars and views to enjoy.
Pier 17 is on the Manhattan side and plays host to concerts, food stalls, and more. Not only that, but the bottom level on the river makes for another Brooklyn Bridge view. The lower level plays host to upscale restaurants and bars that allow for takeaway drinks.
Pier 17 is part of the South Street Seaport which is a great area of Manhattan to go out in. It’s particularly popular with young business professionals who are looking to let loose after a long day of work.
5. View From the Brooklyn Bridge
That’s right! As you might have guessed one of the best Brooklyn Bridge views is from the actual bridge. Going across the pedestrian walkway is also one of our favorite things we’ve done in New York City.
This is one of those New York activities that you’re going to want to consider the time of day for. There can be crazy pedestrian traffic here on a sunny afternoon! Many people living in Brooklyn also walk across it for their commute into Manhattan. You’ll want to avoid the Brooklyn Bridge during peak commute hours as well.
Hands down, the best time to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge is first thing in the morning. This way you can experience it with fewer crowds and get the best Brooklyn Bridge views and pictures possible.
