We’ve spent a lot of time exploring the beautiful beaches around Phuket, but one really stuck out to us! Kata Noi Beach is a personal favorite of ours for an early morning plunge or a sunset swim on the Southwest side of the island. This little beach really stole our hearts from the get-go! Here are 6 fun things to know about Kata Noi Beach in Phuket Thailand before you go!
6 Things to Know About Kata Noi Beach Phuket
1. Kata Noi Beach is Often Overlooked
If it’s so magical… Then why do some travelers not visit Kata Noi? You might be surprised to know that it’s right next to one of Phuket’s most popular beach towns. Kata Beach is also one of our favorite spots to hang out on the island and where many nice accommodations are.
From the most Southern point of Kata Beach, walk the road up the hill to Kata Noi Beach. Just passed the famous Mom Tri’s Restaurant is a set of stairs leading down to Kata Noi Phuket. From Kata Beach, it’s a cheap tuk-tuk ride or you can even take a longboat over!

2. Luxury Resorts
If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay in Phuket this isn’t it! However, if you do have some extra cash to spend then you can enjoy the luxuries of the Katathani Resort.
The hotel takes up most of the real estate around the beach, and the rooms look out to stunning sea views. Can you imagine waking up on one of the most amazing beaches in Phuket? Well on the far end of the beach is even more luxury at their sister hotel, The Shore at Katathani Resort.
On the side closest to Kata Beach (near where the stairs are) is also one of the most renowned hotels in all of Phuket. It was created by the famous architect known as Mom Tri, who is a descendant of King Rama IV of Thailand.

3. Kata Noi Beach Bar
On the most Southern point of Kata Noi Beach is where most of the action is! Here you’ll find lounge chairs for rent, water sports, and even an awesome beach bar for drinks and food. (Check out our 40 favorite Thai dishes!) The Blue Shark is an open-air restaurant with tables and wooden benches lining the outside.
We loved grabbing an ice-cold Chang beer and some Thai food here before taking a dip in the ocean! Additionally, there are a few different local restaurants on the street behind Kata Noi Beach in Phuket Thailand to enjoy. Katathani has a beautiful bar as well if you decide to indulge in the resort life.

4. Views From Above Kata Noi Beach
Need a better view? Well, you’re in luck! It’s possible to get high into the mountains above Kata Noi Beach. Take Kata Sai Yuan Road up the steep hill from the beach. In less than 5 minutes of driving, you’ll be at the top overlooking the gorgeous island of Phuket.
There are a few different restaurants and bars up here with fantastic views to check out. We love the vibe at “The Gu” and it quickly became our go-to spot for sunset drinks and dinner. For something a little more upscale, the Sundeck is a nice spot for cocktails next door.
5. The Water is Crystal Clear
Now that you know a little bit about its surroundings, the reality is none of it matters without the actual beach! The water at Kata Noi Phuket is some of the clearest we’ve ever swum in. Honestly, it’s heaven on earth!
On a calm day, you can see fellow travelers snorkeling around the rocks on the corners of the beach. There are some fun water activities like parasailing and tubing available from here, too. Although very rarely during high season, when the tides change it can bring some rolling waves to play in!

The last thing you need to know about Kata Noi Beach in Phuket Thailand is it’s an EPIC sunset spot. While it’s an unreal place to visit at any time of the day, sunset was when we most frequented Kata Noi. Throw a towel down, relax, and take in the colors as they change over the clear waters of Kata Noi Beach.
