Best Hotels in Hoi An Tips
How Long Should You Plan to Spend in Hoi An?
We recommend at least 3 days for your trip to Hoi An. However, the longer you have the better!
Honestly, it’s hard to explain how much we love this town. We make sure to stop here on practically every visit to Vietnam to experience the magic of Hoi An.
First of all, the entire town is a Unesco World Heritage Site. From the bustling local market to the rice paddies and historic architecture, there’s something for every traveler in Hoi An. Still, we’d be lying if we didn’t admit our favorite part is the food.
Be sure to try the famous Cao Lau noodles (this is the best spot) which can only be found in Hoi An. Also, make a stop at Queen Banh Mi, and check out some of our favorite rooftop bars and cafes.
You can even make a day trip to My Son Sanctuary or Marble Mountain to see some truly incredible scenery and history. Read our complete guide below for more awesome activities in Hoi An!

Which Area is Best to Stay in Hoi An?
When it comes to where to stay in Hoi An, know that it is quite large. Many of the best hotels in Hoi An can be found right around Old Town or just a short walk away. Life here is centered around the Thu Bon River which runs directly through all the action.
You can stay on either side of the river, but we prefer the market area which has more Hoi An boutique hotels, restaurants, and cafes. Just across from here is a small island called An Hoi connected by a bridge. This is where the Hoi An Night Market takes place and is filled with more accommodation options.
If you’d prefer you could also stay near Cua Dai Beach for easy access to the water. Many Hoi An hotels even have a private beach area to enjoy!
Is It Better to Stay in Hoi An or Da Nang?
That all depends on what you want to see and do in Central Vietnam. If you have time you should stay a few days in both to truly have the best experience.
Da Nang is Vietnam’s 3rd largest city, and the coastline plays host to some of the country’s best beaches. You can also stop by the fire breathing Dragon Bridge which comes alive on the weekends.
Da Nang International Airport is where you’ll likely be flying into anyway if you plan to visit Hoi An. If this is part of your itinerary, we recommend staying in Da Nang for at least a couple of nights before heading off to the ancient town.
If we HAD TO choose between the two we would definitely pick Hoi An. As you’ll see in this article, the boutique hotels in Hoi An are part of what makes it such a special place in Central Vietnam.
Luckily, wherever you choose to stay, it’s easy to make a day trip from Da Nang to Hoi An. The drive is only 30 minutes by taxi or shuttle bus, and about 45 minutes if you’re renting a motorbike.
