Have you ever wondered what it’s like to soak in a bath full of beer? We’d heard about the Prague beer spa on previous visits to Europe. Yet, it wouldn’t be until this trip that we’d experience the real thing! Here’s everything about our visit to the Original Beer Spa in Prague and why it’s such a must-do activity in the capital city.
The Original Beer Spa in Prague
When planning our trip to Prague we knew there were a few things we really wanted to do. Along with walking across the Charles Bridge, climbing the many Prague towers, and visiting the beautiful castle complex, we HAD to visit a beer spa!
Prague’s Original Beer Spa combines wellness techniques and traditions that date back centuries. If you couldn’t tell already, this isn’t your typical spa. Instead, a fun experience awaits that is unique to anything we’d done before.

Our Visit to the Prague Beer Spa
We planned our trip for 5pm at the end of a full day of exploring. After walking around the city for almost 7 hours (and clocking over 20,000 steps!) relaxing at the beer spa was something we were looking forward to.
When we checked into the spa we were a few minutes early which was actually perfect. We took in our surroundings and were told we could start drinking the beer from the tap in the lobby. Yes, that’s right! One fun thing about the beer spa in Prague is that you can pour your own beer.
We saw plenty of suds being poured at the countless beer gardens around Prague. Yet, now we would actually get to do it ourselves from the tap. Tilting the glass, the beer rushed into our mugs. It may have taken a pour or two, but we eventually got the hang of it.
While enjoying our first drink we noticed the Original Beer Spa sells their own shampoos and lotions. These can definitely make for a fun gift to take home after your soak. Once a few minutes had passed we were told our room was ready for us.

What You’ll Find in Your Prague Beer Spa Room
The private rooms at the Original Beer Spa can accommodate couples or even groups together. Our room had 3 different tubs with two taps in between. We decided to share one tub which fits two people. However, depending on your group, you can each get your own bath filled if you’d like.
We were also given a traditional Czech beer bread snack to enjoy with our drinks. After tasting so much delicious food around Prague it was exciting to get some more snacks to enjoy.
There are actually two Czech Krušovice beers on tap, one dark and one light. Of course the beer bath is the star of the show! Still, there are more things to enjoy in your private room at the Original Beer Spa.
- Bed: A hay bed with sheets to lay down on after your soak.
- Fireplace: Romantic fireplace setting. Couples will particularly enjoy this!
- Dunk Shower: A cold bucket shower was a nice switch-up from the hot bath.
- Sauna: Sauna room for the perfect Prague beer spa experience.
- Tub: Hand-carved royal oak tubs for 1 or 2 people.
One Hour in Prague Beer Spa Paradise
Our experience started off with a staff member pouring the natural ingredients of hops, yeast, and malt into our tub. While it’s not technically what you are drinking, the tub is mixed the same ingredients that are used to make beer. We would learn that vitamins are great for your skin and that it is also a proven stress reliever.
We had no idea how good beer could be for your body. I mean… drinking a beer… in a tub of beer… in the beer capital of the world? It doesn’t get any better than that! The bubbles stay on for 25 minutes and it feels like a real jacuzzi. After that, we had another 35 minutes to continue soaking and enjoy the rest of our private Prague beer spa room.
Honestly, between the cold dunks, hanging out in the sauna, and relaxing in a little bed of hay, the time really flew by. We had such an amazing time we definitely weren’t ready to leave.
Quick Tips for the Prague Beer Spa
Book in Advance: This is one of the most popular things to do in the city so we recommend booking your trip ahead. This way you can get the location and time that you want, especially if you are planning to go on the weekend.
Time it Right: We mentioned that we booked our spa for 5pm. However, the original Prague Beer Spa actually opens as early as 10am. Schedule what time works for you. Also, know that you probably shouldn’t plan anything too important after drinking unlimited beer.
Pick the Best Location: The Original Beer Spa has three different locations throughout Prague. Check out Žitná Street 9, Rybná Street 3, and Vladislavova Street which is inside Michelangelo Grand Hotel.
Arrive Early: You are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early to hang out in the lobby. Here you can look through their products and enjoy a delicious beer.
Clothing: It is recommended not to shower after your bath for at least two hours to ensure the best effects on your skin. If you wear a swimsuit know that it will take a few washes to get the hops smell out.
Should You Visit the Original Beer Spa in Prague?
100% yes! This was a completely unique spa session that we truly loved. Even if you don’t consider yourself a beer lover, it is still a special experience any traveler will appreciate.
Somewhere along the line, we lost track of the time and how many beers we had. Losing yourself in this ancient practice and one-of-a-kind spa room is all part of the fun!
