About Barcelos Bakery Fall River

Honestly, from the look of it, you’d think Barcelos Bakery and Cafe had been around forever. It’s just got that old-school vibe that you’d expect from a classic European cafe. Yet, the owners actually first opened in 2004 on Bedford Street.

From 5am to 5pm daily (yes you read that right!) the staff is cranking out traditional Portuguese bread, sandwiches, and desserts. It’s also a great place to sit and grab an espresso or coffee with friends.

The Best Bakery in Fall River

So what makes Barcelos the best bakery in Fall River?

Well, it’s all in the bread! Barcelos bakes their bread fresh daily, and their Portuguese rolls have the perfect level of crispiness. Its simple and no-fuss menu, as well as style, made us want to come back day after day.

We would recommend going first thing in the morning for breakfast, or an early lunch. We’ve traveled all over the country, and this truly felt like we were back in Portugal!

Sandwiches on Barcelos Bakery Menu

There are many amazing items on Barcelos Bakery menu, and we wanted to share some of our favorites. The Bifana and Cacoila sandwiches are absolute staples in Portugal, and they crush them here!

The pork at Barcelos Bakery is excellent, flavorful, and transported us right to the streets of Lisbon. What brings it all together is the red peppers which add a tasty kick.

In addition to their signature sandwiches, Barcelos Bakery typically has some type of Portuguese soup and other savory treats behind the main glass.

Coffee & Hot Drinks

Nothing goes better with a pastry than a hot Portuguese coffee! Here they serve all the classics from espresso and cappuccinos to mouth-watering macchiatos. As we sat by the window, we couldn’t help but daydream of being back in Portugal as the sweet smells floated through the air. Such a treat!

The star of the show at any bakery is the dessert, and Barcelos comes through with all the hits. Treat yourself to a pastel de nata, eclair, or a slice of cake to go with your coffee. Better yet, grab a small box of treats and take some home.
