Taking the ferry between the Gili Islands is incredible easy and inexpensive! Whether you’re hopping from Gili T to Gili Air for a day trip or just using it to continue on in your travels, the public ferry is your best choice. We break down the Gili Islands ferry cost, travel time, and our secret to getting the best views on the boat!
About the Gili Islands Ferry
On all three islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air) there is a main ticket office. You will see them when you first arrive on each island as they’re located directly at the entrance of the ports. If you buy tickets from your hotel or one of the many other ticket offices, expect to be charged almost double the price.
Gili Islands Ferry Cost: 35,000 IDR ($2.50 USD) between Gili T, Gili Air, and Gili Meno.
Gili Islands Ferry Times: Leaving Gili Air & Gili T in the morning and afternoon with a stop in Gili Meno.

Ferry Between Gili Islands
During the high season tickets can sell out, but it’s not common when traveling by boat between the Gili Islands. Plan to be at the ferry at least 10 minutes before take off and don’t stress if it arrives late. Remember you’re on island time!
No bags are collected unlike the boat from Bali to the Gili Islands, so you’re able to keep your personal items with you. This isn’t a big deal especially if you’re just making the short journey from Gili T to Gili Air.
Now as we mentioned before, there is a secret to the best view on the boat… Many travelers don’t realize that you can actually ride on the roof!
Bottom of the Boat: Long benches line the sides of the boats and fill up quickly. This is the most logical and safest way to travel, but if you’re looking for a little more adventure you can head up top.
Top Deck: At the back of the boat you can jump up to the top deck and ride with a perfect view of the islands. There was close to 40 people underneath, and only 4 riding on top of the boat. Just note there is little to no railings so if you aren’t careful it would be beyond easy to fall off. Stay safe and have fun!
Enjoy the Gili Islands Boat Views
We took the Gili Island Public Ferry twice while visiting the islands. One was from Gili Trawangan to Gili Meno, and the second from Gili Meno to Gili Air.
Both trips were no more than 15-20 minutes long and had stunning views of the Gili Islands and Lombok. Have your camera ready to take in the scenery along the way.
