La Flora Khao Lak: Our 3 Nights at the Beautiful Beachfront Resort

La Flora Khao Lak

While we’ve made several trips to Thailand before, this was surprisingly our first visit to the famous town of Khao Lak! The three nights we spent on the beach at La Flora Khao Lak were the perfect intro to the area. From long beach walks to enjoying the swimming pools and dinner overlooking the ocean, we had so much fun at the La Flora Resort. We even took a boat tour to the Similan Islands right from the hotel. Here’s everything we enjoyed about our stay so you can decide if La Flora Khao Lak is right for you.

Our Visit to Khao Lak Thailand

We were actually coming from Khao Sok National Park which was a 2 hour drive to Khao Lak. The town is the perfect stop to add to a longer Thailand Itinerary with many travelers coming from Phuket, too. After our adventures in the rainforest we were so ready for some relaxation at the beach!

La Flora Khao Lak was centrally located right on Bang Niang Beach which makes it easy to move around the area. You’re also in a great spot to get out on the water and to the famous Similan Islands which we share more about soon.

When we first arrived at La Flora Resort we were welcomed with a cold tea and cookies as we waited to be checked in. La Flora Khao Lak is a large hotel with multiple swimming pools, fun bars, and countless palm trees surrounding you.

La Flora Khao Lak Room Tour

We stayed in a Deluxe Pool Access Room which was tucked back from the beachfront. The room was large and the wall to the bathroom was handily retractable. This open concept area is perfect, and something you’ll especially love if you’re a tub person. The spa tub is easily one of the highlights of the room!

Still, the thing we loved most about it was being just steps from the swimming pool. We spent a lot of our time hanging out on the deck in our sun beds and jumping right in the water. From our room we could actually swim down and explore more of the hotel without even leaving the pool.

Endless Swimming Pools at La Flora Khao Lak

Speaking of swimming pools, La Flora Khao Lak has a lot of them! All have their own fun design, and most come with a swim up bar attached.

One thing we thought was really cool about this hotel is their unique happy hours. Starting at 2pm during our visit, they were held a different bar around the property. The happy hour would switch every hour to a new pool bar so you were literally bar hopping around La Flora.

Our personal favorite was the Breeze Bar on the beach. This was such a fun way to have some drinks and experience different areas of La Flora Khao Lak.

Atmosphere at La Flora Khao Lak

Something that we noticed right away at La Flora Khao Lak is the relaxed vibe and fun atmosphere. For this reason, it caters to many different types of travelers. La Flora Resort is the perfect place for families and those with younger kids. There is a fun play area and plenty of shallow swimming pools for them to enjoy.

Even though it’s a great resort for families, there were also many couples like us staying at the resort. We even met a husband and wife from England who were taking their annual holiday and staying at La Flora for two weeks!

Morning Spa at La Flora Khao Lak

Our time at the La Flora Khao Lak Spa was one of our absolute favorite moments from our stay. Getting a massage is a must in Thailand and a luxury everyone should indulge in.

We had the 60 minute Coconut Aroma treatment which we highly recommend. When we left our skin was silky smooth and smelled like toasted coconut!

Bang Niang Beach & Water Activities

With so much going on at La Flora Khao Lak you might have forgotten you’re right on a beautiful beach! Bang Niang is one of the best in the area and its golden sand and clear water are absolute paradise.

We loved how you could move from the different pools, and then also walk right out and jump in the sea. From the main pool you can even swim right up to the sand to get a view!

On the right side of the beachfront area you’ll find awesome outdoor activities to enjoy. La Flora Khao Lak offers Kayaks, Stand up Paddle Boards, and even an Electric Surfboard.

Sire Restaurant & Breeze Bar

La Flora Resort has a delicious restaurant called Sire. Below are some of our favorite dishes we had for each meal during our visit.

Breakfast at La Flora

Breakfast was buffet style and has countless options for everyone. We really loved the beef soup that was made to order, omelet station, and all the local fruits!

La Flora Khao Lak Lunch

For lunch you can check out the menu which features a mix of Thai and Western specialties. We highly recommend the soft shell crab curry, seafood pizza, and papaya salad. One day we ate lunch at the restaurant while the next afternoon we actually ordered it to the pool bar.

La Flora Dinner

The real showstopper at La Flora Khao Lak was dinnertime! Each night they had a special meal or item you could order from the main menu. Our first night at La Flora was the seafood bucket which really blew us away. They dumped lobster, prawns, and other incredible seafood right out in front of us.

Day Trip to Similan Islands

Another advantage of staying at La Flora in Khao Lak is its proximity to the famous Similan Islands. The company Wow Andamanworks with the hotel and runs boat tours right from the pier in front.

We took a full day snorkeling tour with them and even hiking to the Sailing Rock viewpoint. This was such a memorable experience and we loved that you can set it up right through La Flora resort.

Yes! If you’re looking for a fun and family friendly resort on the beach then this is a great choice. Still, as two seasoned travelers in our mid-30’s it was the perfect stay for us as well. From the pool access rooms to the happy hours, and amazing beach activities, we had such a blast!
