Wroclaw Poland Restaurants

Ready to dive into the best restaurants in Wroclaw Poland? We had some of the most amazing food of our entire trip to Poland in this city! From the small vodka bars to the food markets and traditional pierogi eateries, there are so many amazing Wroclaw restaurants and bars to experience. Here are some of our favorite dishes, drinks, and even where to eat outside of Wroclaw old town.

What to Know About the Wroclaw Restaurants & Bars

Wroclaw is a diverse city full of historic sites, incredible architecture, and an electric culinary scene. We found great traditional Polish food everywhere we looked, but also plenty of tasty international eats!

Another great thing to know about Wroclaw is that almost everything is within walking distance. That means you can stroll your way around the city easily without having to worry about taxis, trains, or bus rides.

After eating our fair share of German cuisine and all the best food in Prague, the prices seemed incredibly cheap as well. As good as our meals were, one of our favorite parts about Wroclaw was the thriving bar scene.

You can easily snack your way around the city, take in the sights, and grab drinks along the way. This article has all the spots we loved and highly recommend for your own trip. We’ll even share a list of popular Wroclaw restaurants that we had to save for next time!

Planning Your Trip to Wroclaw

☀️ Spring and fall are the most lovely times of year to visit Wroclaw! Being a university city keeps it busy year round. If you are going to go in the winter, make sure to plan for your dates to overlap with the Christmas Market.

✈️  You can get cheap flights to Wroclaw from all over Europe. We used this company to find a flight deal from Valencia, Spain, for just $50 Euros.

If you are coming from outside of Europe, then the big cities of Krakow or Warsaw will likely have the most direct flights. From there, you can take a train to Wroclaw (check the train prices).

🏨  Base your stay around the colorful old town. We loved being able to walk out of our hotel to all the historic sites and Wroclaw restaurants. Some highly-rated options include Wyndham Wroclaw Old Town (mid-range), Hotel Monopol (luxury), and RYNEK 30 Hostel (budget).

🥟 With all the great food and attractions, you’ll want at least two days to see the city. We had three days on our recent trip to Wroclaw and felt like we’d barely scratched the surface.

Wroclaw Restaurants and Bars

Best Restaurants in Wroclaw Poland

1. Bar Mleczny Miś

The first stop on our Wroclaw restaurants tour was a local milk bar. We’ve become very fond of these cafeteria-style eateries ever since our first trip to Gdansk

At Bar Mleczny Mis, you place your order at the register first, grab a receipt, and go pick it up at the food station. We ordered dumplings with goulash, a traditional zurek sour soup, pork cutlet, and a side of beetroot salad.

The prices are cheap and the food is served efficiently. Just know that when an item is sold out it’s likely done for the day! For this reason, it’s best to go to these Wroclaw restaurants early around lunchtime if possible.

2. Prewar

As soon as we walked into Prewar, we felt like we were in the ultimate Polish dive bar. The establishment is fitted with stools, wooden tables, and a tiny upstairs room. It’s located directly across from St. Elisabeths Church, and you can even get a view at one of the seats in the window.

This ended up being one of our favorite spots for a drink and snack in Wroclaw old town. The authentic bar serves up local beers, small plates, and every flavor of vodka you could imagine.

It was also the first place we ate steak tartare, but it wouldn’t be the last in Poland! Honestly, it seemed like every table was enjoying one of the raw meat plates and gzik cheese dip.

Other things we loved here were the herring, kielbasa, and pierogi. For the bold, you can also try galareta (meat jelly), but that one wasn’t so memorable.

3. Dobra Pączkarnia

Let us start off by saying there are so many awesome bakeries and donut places around Wroclaw! We came across Dobra Pączkarnia while walking around old town, and couldn’t resist after seeing their delectable donuts staring at us in the window.

You truly haven’t had a donut until you’ve tried Pączki in Poland. These soft, fried treats can be seen all around the country, from the small towns to the big cities. The most famous is the rose flavor, which is filled with rose petal jam.

Dobra Pączkarnia has been churning out pastries since 1989, and have definitely perfected the donut. You can also check out Gorąca Pączkarnia F‑Wiatrak and Nasza Pączkarnia to get your Pączki fix.

4. Wroclaw Market Hall (Hala Targowa)

If you’re not sure exactly what to eat in Wroclaw or want to try a few different things, head over to Hala Targowa. The sprawling food hall has everything from milk bars to cafes, and sweet cakes.

Our first stop was at the Cafe Targowa, where we got cappuccinos to walk around with. After exploring the market, we decided to eat at Bar Karmazyn near the entrance of the market hall.

This ended up being one of the best milk bars we ate at during our last visit to Poland. The goulash over potato pancakes and cabbage roll was the perfect afternoon lunch.

There is also a huge section of flowers on the first floor, fresh fruits and veggies, and souvenirs to check out. From Hala Targowa, you can continue over to the Oder River and see why they call Wroclaw the “Venice of Poland.”

5. Szynkarnia

Pizza is something we’re always on the lookout for during our travels, but this isn’t any old Wroclaw restaurant! Szynkarnia doubles as a micro-brewery that serves up podpłomyki, a Polish style flatbread baked in a stone oven.

The dough is made fresh daily with a sourdough starter, and mix of rye and wheat flower. This creates a super thin crust that can be good shared as a snack or main meal.

Podpłomyki goes so well with their wheat beer and IPA’s on draft. Ours came with a cream based sauce, honey, onions, chives and wild boar meat.

6. Pierogarnia Stary Młyn

Okay, it’s finally pierogi time! Stary Mlyn is located right near the main square just steps from the town hall building.

What makes it one of the best restaurants in Wroclaw is their unique baked pierogi. We would end up trying them cooked in every different way, including fried and steamed. However, this was one of the few places that was dedicated to oven baking them.

Something we didn’t realize is how big the baked ones are, and we may of over-ordered. Yet, this made for a great takeaway snack that we could enjoy later at our hotel.

7. Spiż Brewery

From the looks of it, you would think they had been brewing beer for hundreds of years at Spiz. Nevertheless, we would find out it’s relatively new! Spiz actually opened their doors in 1992, and was one of the first brewpubs in Poland.

The building itself is old though, as it’s located directly under Wroclaw Town Hall. It was used as underground storage cellars during medieval times, which makes the basement an interesting and historic place for drinks.

You can also get full plates of Polish food as well as your typical bar snacks. The beer was definitely some of the best we had in the city on our Wroclaw restaurants journey. They have unique flavors such as cherry, banana, and honey. You can even enjoy one outside in the summer months at one of the benches with a view of the square.

8. Konspira

Konspira serves up some of the best pierogi in the city! While it is one of the most popular restaurants in Wroclaw Poland, this spot almost feels like a museum in itself.

It has a theme around the anti-communist movement in the 1970’s and 80’s, with all kinds of newspapers, typewriters, and other props around. The restaurant name actually comes from the word “konspiracja,” which means underground resistance in Polish.

While the theme is fun, the main attraction here is still their traditional Polish food. Be sure to order the pierogis, soup in a bread bowl, meat dishes, and duck if they have it on the menu.

9. AleBrowar Wrocław

By now, you can tell that the breweries are integral part of finding where to eat in Wroclaw. With that said, if you visit one taproom it should be AleBrowar!

They’ve been credited as one of the trailblazers of craft beer scene in Poland, and for good reason. We stopped in for a beer one day and were impressed by the dozens of IPA’s and hoppy beers on tap.

Most beer from Poland is kind of simple and light tasting, so this offers a fun modern switch up. They also serve pizza and snacks, which makes it a great stop before a late night dinner in Wroclaw.

10. Iggy Pizza

Don’t worry pizza lovers, we have one more Wroclaw restaurant you have to try! Iggy is known as having the best pizza in the city, and we got to taste it ourselves on our last evening.

We typically don’t love recommending food that isn’t local to the country we’re visiting. Still, after reading countless reviews, we had to try for ourselves.

The Neapolitian style pizza took us back to the restaurants in Naples Italy, and their unique toppings were so much fun to try. The Mortadella and Salame Napoli we had were so tasty!

They also specialize in Italian spritz if you need something to drink with your pie.

11. Gorące Precle

As you’re strolling around the city, you might start to notice small windows in between all the best Wroclaw restaurants. Many of these are bakeries that are fully dedicated to pretzels!

There are the original basic ones, but also stuffed with Gouda cheese, chocolate, and more yummy fillings. We recommend stopping at any you see, but we grew fond of Gorące Precle in old town ourselves.

12. Kombinat

As you can see, there are plenty of pubs to check out in this small Polish city. Kombinat is a similar in concept to Prewar that we mentioned earlier, with a bit of modern twist. This spot has a full bar and a small snack menu posted on the wall.

Some of the most popular food options are the different pierogi, herring, and grilled toasts. If you are visiting during the warmer months, it’s great to grab a table outside overlooking the flower market.

We should also mention that when you see a pink colored beer in Poland it’s because of the syrup! At most Wroclaw restaurants and bars it’s common to add flavors like raspberry, ginger, or cherry to your drink.

More Fun Wroclaw Restaurants & Bars

Obviously, there are more bars and restaurants in Wroclaw than the ones we got to try ourselves over a few days. One area that we found especially fun was the train bar street. If you’re looking for some late night eats and drinks, head over to Wojciecha Bogusławskiego to hit the lively strip of bars underneath the tracks.

For a unique liquor in Wroclaw, we highly recommend getting a cherry treat at Pijana Wisnia! Although it was started in Ukraine, these “cherry wine” bars have become extremely popular around Poland.

Of course, if you need a quick snack, don’t hesitate to grab a hot dog from the Zabka stores that are on every corner. You can see people walking around with these viral sausages day and night after their recent online popularity.
