Discover Bingin Beach! How to Get This Hidden Paradise in Bali

Bingin Beach

Calling all beach lovers! Bingin Beach is one of the most popular on the island of Bali, and a must-visit on your trip to Uluwatu. From how to get there to a few of our favorite beachfront restaurants, here’s everything to know about Bingin Bali!

Where is Bingin Beach?

Bingin Beach is located in the Pecatu Village section of Uluwatu. This area of Bali is known for its towering cliffs and epic surfing, all of which you can find at Bingin!

While it may be tricky to get down to the actual beach (more on that next), it is conveniently located near many of the most popular cafes and co-working spots in Uluwatu. While you’re in Uluwatu, also make sure to visit Padang Padang Beach, Dreamland Beach and the famous Uluwatu Temple.

How to Get to Bingin Beach Bali

Have you been to Bali before? If so, then you already know getting to the beach is not always so easy! Specifically in the Uluwatu area, you will often need to climb down countless steps to get to the sand.

The only way to get to Bingin Beach in Bali is from one main parking lot. Many travelers arrive here on motorbike and pay the small fee to park. From there, you’ll follow the stairway down to Bingin Beach.

An important thing to note is that if you’re taking a Grab taxi they will not be able to pull right up to the parking lot. The local Bali taxi company runs the parking lot and they don’t get along with companies like Grab and Gojek. So on your way back, you may have to walk away from the parking lot to find them.

The Steep Walk Down to Bingin Beach

From the main parking lot, follow the winding path down to Bingin Beach. This is where it gets a little bit confusing! The trail quickly turns into steps which descend through a local neighborhood, and then past hotels and restaurants as you get closer to the bottom.

The walk should only take you about 10 minutes and a little bit longer on the way up. There are a few little signs pointing you in the right direction. However, it’s easy to take a wrong turn and end up somewhere else!

If you don’t have service you can download the maps.me offline map before making the trip to Bingin Beach Uluwatu. That way if you get turned around you will be able to find your way down.

Can You Stay Overnight at Bingin Beach?

Yes! One of the most unique features of Bingin Beach is its accommodations. While other beaches around Bali may have large resorts on the water, here you can stay in small boutique hotels that are literally built into the cliffs.

Perched above the beach among the restaurants there are smaller hotels to take your pick from. This can be a super fun place to stay for a couple of nights, and it will save you the time of walking up and down those stairs.

Is Bingin Beach Worth Visiting?

Yes! It’s widely known as one of the best beaches in Uluwatu. Although you’ll have to make quite the hike down, it’s more than worth it for the experience.

Our favorite time of day to experience Bingin Beach is for sunset. On the left side of the beach tables will be set up in the sand for golden hour. Many of the restaurants grill at night so you can eat some fresh fish overlooking the water. We highly recommend trying this if you’re in Bingin for dinner.

The only drawback of sunset at Bingin Beach is that you may have to go up the stairs in the dark! Honestly, that’s another huge advantage of staying overnight here. Just make sure you have a flashlight or a decent light on your phone as the steps aren’t lit back to the parking lot.
