Spain

Planning a trip to Spain? This is a country we’ve been traveling to for many years and simply can’t get enough of. Here’s where you can find our best Spain travel tips, city guides, and much more.

Our first Spain trip was back in 2016 during our first journey to Europe together. We explored the south of the country, visiting cities like Granada and Malaga. Although it was a shorter trip, we knew we would someday return!

In 2019, we headed back to Spain to experience more of the country. It was during this time where we also went to the beautiful Canary Islands. We ended up living and working from the stunning town of Nerja for one month on the Costa del Sol

Fast forward to 2024, and we’ve made Spain our home base in Europe. We both got our Spanish residency, and will be using our apartment on the Costa Blanca to explore more of Europe from.

Spain is not only full of majestic cities, castles, great food, and world-renowned beaches, but it can be a very affordable place to travel. Check out all our Spain guides for travel tips, and to hear all about our experiences. Also, stay tuned for more articles as we make our way around the country!

Spain Travel Tips

Money: The Euro is the official currency.

Location: Spain is located in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula. It borders Portugal, France, Andorra, Gibraltar, and Morocco.

Language: Spanish is the language spoken throughout Spain.

Seasons: Spain is well-known as having one of the warmest climates in all of Europe. In fact, on many parts of the coast you will experience over 300 days of sun per year!

While the summer season draws in tourists from around the world, our favorite time to visit is during the shoulder months of spring and fall. This is when you’ll find less crowds, but still very warm and pleasant temperatures.

What to Eat & Drink: Spain has a fun tapa and drinking culture that every traveler will enjoy. Spanish cuisine includes a delicious mix of seafood, hearty meat plates, soups, and delicious dishes with Arabic influence.
