Since we started our travel blog, we’ve made a point to go to Greece at least one month per year. Each visit we try to explore a different part of Greece, whether that be the islands or vast mainland.
Over the years, we’ve explored the Cyclades and Dodecanese island chains. We’ve also written extensively about the Greek ferry system which is a great way to get around.
On our most recent Greece trip, we drove through the Peloponnese region, toured the monasteries of Meteora, and then enjoyed the beaches of the Ionian Coast. We even spent a few days on the stunning island of Kefalonia.
Many travelers will start their journey by flying into Athens, and using the ferries to hop around the islands. Yet, as you’ll see in our blogs, you can’t sleep on the Greek mainland either!

One of our best Greece travel tips is to see the country during shoulder season before or after the peak months of July and August. This is especially important if you’re heading to popular destinations like Santorini.
What to Eat & Drink: Greek cuisine is so delicious! It features a great mix of seafood and hearty meat dishes, with an abundance of sweet treats as well. They play host to a number of great beers and wines, and you can try the local liquors of Ouzo and Raki if you wish.
